Conditions of use and sale
Welcome to the JCS Online Resources Website and Ordering Service. Access to the Ordering Service is available at http://www.jcsonlineresources.org and is subject to conditions set out on this page.
Please read these conditions carefully before using the JCS Online Ordering Service. By using the Service, you signify your agreement to be bound by these conditions:
- conditions relating to your use of our Ordering Service
- conditions relating to the subscriptions of the online resources in the JCS portfolio
- conditions relating to both your use of our Service and the subscriptions you may make
1. The JCS Online Resources Ordering Service
The JCS website provides an online Ordering Service to the schools sector (UK and Worldwide) for its portfolio of online resources. The Service enables users to get a quotation, subscribe to a resource(s), view the Institution’s subscriptions, and manage the account.
It has not been possible to licence every resource for institutions outside of the UK so you should refer to the JCS Catalogue to find out which resource is applicable for your institutions type.
2. Eligible users and institutions
Users must be a member of an eligible institution within the schools sector (UK and Worldwide). JCS will decide the eligibility by verifying each registration request.
Eligible institutions/organisations include:
- State Schools (Secondary, Middle, Primary)
- Sixth Form Colleges
- Independent Schools (Secondary, Preparatory)
- British International Schools/International Schools
The following types of organisations are also eligible for accounts on the JCS Ordering Service as central purchasing is encouraged to help schools save money.
- Local Authorities
- School Library Services
- Devolved Administration
- Government departments
3. Your Institution’s Account
If you use the JCS Online Quotation and Ordering Service, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your username and password and for restricting access to your account (including the account users listed in ‘Your Accounts’) to prevent unauthorised access to your account.
You agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account username and password. You should take all necessary steps to ensure that the password is kept confidential and secure and you should inform JCS immediately if you have any reason to believe that your password has become known to anyone else.
The members of staff placing subscription orders on this site must be authorised to do so on behalf of their institution. Other members of staff who are authorised to access the institution’s account should have their own individual login details i.e. “user accounts” along with the appropriate permissions to place orders or opt-out of subscriptions.
Please ensure that the details you provide are correct, complete, and kept up to date.
JCS Online Resources reserves the right to refuse registration requests from institutions and organisations deemed ineligible, terminate accounts, remove or edit content at its discretion.
Please review our Privacy and Cookies notice, which explains how we use any information about you that we receive.
Please review our Privacy and Cookies notice, which also governs your visit to our website, to understand our practices. Conditions relating to subscriptions
This section deals with conditions relating to subscriptions to the online resources included in the Catalogue on our website. Please read the respective Licence for each resource to see their specific terms and conditions which are available here.
14. Agreeing the terms of the licence
When you place an order to subscribe to an online resource, you will need to confirm your acceptance of the Terms and Conditions of the respective licence by clicking on the “I confirm order and accept licence” on the Form. Once this has been done JCS will send you an email confirming receipt of your order and containing the details of your subscription. JCS will then send an order confirmation to the publisher(s) to activate your subscription and confirming that you (the Licensee) have placed the order and for which resource, the preferred access method, the start and end date of the subscription period, and that you, the Licensee, has agreed to the terms and conditions of the licence.
15. Subscription cancellations
JCS Online Resources has, on behalf of the school sector, successfully negotiated opt-out clauses in all of the licences currently available within its portfolio. The term of each licence commences on the start date as set out in the Form and will remain in full force and effect until terminated by the Licensee by giving the Publisher and JCS Online Resources 2 months (60 days) notice before the annual renewal date.
You should read the full Term and Termination details under Clause 9 in the Licence.
All prices are exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise and include the JCS service fee which is currently 15% of the value of the subscription. Subscription prices are currently quoted in sterling only.
